Persian Borage tea: A natural nerve tonic to calm you down

Gol Gav Zaban (Borage) with its purple flower is brewed the same way you brew tea leaves.

Growing in the northern part of Iran, Gol Gav Zaban (Borage) with its purple flower is brewed the same way you brew tea leaves.

Gol (flower) Gav (cow) zaban (tongue) literally means cow tongue flower and has a mild and distinct taste.

Borage is believed to be a good source of antioxidants and is also good for the heart and for treating coughs and colds.

As an aromatic, flavorful, and soothing herbal tea, Gol Gav Zaban also has a calming effect on the nerves.

Herbal tea ingredients:

2 tablespoons (or a handful) Gol Gav Zaban
2 quarts of water

2 sticks of Persian nabat (rock candy)

Juice of a lemon/lime or 1/2 teaspoon of crushed dried lime (limo Amani)

Make it as follows:

In a kettle, bring water to a boil.

Fill a teapot halfway with Gol Gav Zaban.

Pour in boiling water and brew over low heat for 15 minutes.

Serve hot with rock candy or lemon juice, as desired.
